Filipino Vocabularies #2 Family

Hello everyone! I am Min, and I am a ninja.
I may not be the best teacher in town, but I'll do my best!
Thank you for being interested in learning Filipino!

There's a lesson list on the side btw.

Click here if you haven't seen the lesson on greetings.

Today we will study more phrases which you can use in casual conversation. They can be used when busy or lazy.

FILIPINO
Vocabularies #2 Family

Here are some useful nouns and titles.  Those with asterisk can be used to non-family, including strangers, as long as they are older than you. Any senior citizen can be called "lolo" or "lola" even if they are not your grandparents. (Ex. They are crossing the street, you want to help them)

*Ate (Older sister)
*Kuya (Older brother)
Tita (Aunt)
Tito (Uncle)
*Lolo (Grandpa)
*Lola (Grandma)
Tatay / Papa (Father)
Nanay / Mama (Mother)

Pamilya (Family)

They can stand alone or you use them before the name.

Examples:
Ate Danna! Kumusta na po kayo?
Kuya, pahinging pagkain.
Lolo, okay lang po ba kayo?
Lola, sino pong kasama niyo?
